Djokovic wins the US Open title in September

It is all happiness for Djokovic as he became the new US Open Champion beating Roger Federer in 4 exciting sets in front of 23,000 fans at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. This would be the Serbian’s 10th grand slam.

With scores of 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, Djokovic won the championship on Sunday, September 13, 2015. This added to 3 championships in a year for the second time in his career.

Djokovic faced fierce opposition from Federer, but he managed. In fact, he saved 19 out of 23 break points and converted 6 out 13 opportunities.

The audience had to endure a delay of more than 3 hours due to rain. This was undoubtedly one game where Djokovic gave it all up, as was demonstrated by his scrapes on hand, forearm, and knee.

Djokovic reacted after the match, “I have to share my admiration for Roger, everything he’s still doing for tennis. It was a tough one tonight. I have a tremendous respect for Roger, an incredible record.  Coming on court knowing you are playing against probably the best player in the game adds a little bit more pressure. I knew he was going to be very aggressive. It was a quite incredible evening for me.”

Roger said, “Felt great to be back in a final after six years. I’ve had a wonderful two weeks, very happy with my tennis. I enjoyed it and thought it was a great match. It’s been a good rivalry, maybe not tonight. I think we walk away from it knowing more about our games and more about ourselves.”
