Well, there are a number of sports being played in America like Baseball, Soccer, Badminton and what not. But tennis is a sport which children start learning from their childhood. Now let’s know about what this sport actually is!
Tennis is a sport played between two players (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). A racket is used by players who to strike the hollow rubber ball into opponent’s court. The main objective of game is to strike the ball in such a way that your opponent is not capable to give a return to your throw. No points are given to the player who is not able to strike back the ball and points are rewarded to the other player.
Today’s Tennis was formerly known as “Lawn Tennis” and was born in 19th century in United Kingdom and in a little while became trendy among the Upper Class English Speaking population. Today, Tennis is an Olympic Sport and is played by people at all levels of society and ages and even people in wheelchairs; the only need is a racquet in hand. The four Grand Slam tournaments namely, the Australian Open played on hard courts, the French Open played on red clay courts, Wimbledon played on grass courts, and the US Open played also on hard courts are very much popular among Tennis lovers.
America has given many players in Tennis like Pete Sampras, Serena Williams, Bill Tilden, Andre Agassi, Jimmi Connors and many more.
