Allegations regarding Patrick Kane

Recapping events surrounding Chicago Blackhawk’s right winger, Patrick Kane, and allegations of rape, it all began on August 6, 2015. The Buffalo News reported that Kane was being investigated by the Hamburg Police for a rape incident that supposedly happened between August 1 and 2, 2015. A local woman alleged that the hockey player took her to his home in Hamburg and forced her to have sex with him.

This news brought some consequences to Kane, such as being removed as a co-owner of NHL 16, EA Sport’s videogame. Kane and the woman were scheduled for a hearing for September 8 but it was postponed. On September 23, an empty evidence bag was anonymously delivered to the accuser’s mother’s doorstep. This brought about a series of statements and questions about the whereabouts of the evidence and allegations of tampering of evidence. Frank Sedita III, the Erie County District Attorney, stated this mysterious bag was an “elaborate hoax” by the accuser’s mother.

To defend the integrity of the evidence, Commissioner John Glasscott declared “All evidence related to this case that was given to Erie County Central Police Services by the Town of Hamburg Police Department is accounted for and remains in its original packaging in the possession of Erie County Central Police Services.”

Kane has not being formally accused and maintains his innocence. In fact, he remains a very popular player of the Chicago Blackhawks as his #88 jersey sells at the top at the NHL site. He still trains with the team and participates in their games.
